“I feel the most free when I am in Lake Michigan. The adrenaline rush of my body adjusting to the cold water always makes me feel at ease. I’ve been going to the lake for as long as I can remember, so it’s always felt like an integral part of my life. I’ve always been the child that my parents had to beg to get out of the water when it was time to leave the beach; even now I have a hard time leaving because I feel so content just floating in the water. I don’t think I’ve ever felt more peace or more like myself than I do when I’m swimming in Lake Michigan,” Sr. Alena Flynn said.
