Our site, thewestottawan.com, is the official student-produced website of news and information published by Journalistic Writing students. The site has been established as a designated limited public forum for student editors to inform and educate their readers.

The content of the site is determined by and reflects the views of the staff of Journalistic Writing, not necessarily those of the adviser, those of West Ottawa High School or its administration, or those of the West Ottawa School District.

Journalistic Writing students and staff are protected by and bound to the principles of the First Amendment and other protections and limitations afforded by the Constitution and the various laws and court decisions implementing those principles.

The editor-in-chief(s) and the editorial board are responsible for enforcing the editorial policy.

MISSION STATEMENT

The purpose of the West Ottawan is to inform and entertain West Ottawa students by presenting pertinent, thought-provoking material that concerns West Ottawa and our community. We wish to project an accurate view by using high standards of scholastic journalism.
