“I think my favorite part of the job is being able to see the progress that kids make through hard work, through doing things the right way. And secondary to that, a fun part that goes along with it is helping kids with things I didn’t have as I went through high school and college. I was very unhappy with the school district I was at, I didn’t see it as a place I could stay for thirty years, you know? I had interviewed with Hudsonville, made it very far in the interview process with them, for a position, and then things kind of fell through. I was then interviewed by Mrs. Armstrong and she gave my name to Mrs. Jernigan and we talked back and forth but I wasn’t going to take the job just because of the drive. Then I heard from a friend, ‘There’s a lot of value in loving where you show up to work every day’ and he was right, I love being here,” Instructor Nick Newton said.
