“The hardest part of adjusting to a new school was definitely getting out there and making friends. Shortly after meeting WO kids, I came to the realization that many of them had already formed tight-knit groups prior to high school, and it’s hard to fit in with people that have already been so close for years. I was very, VERY nervous on my first day. There were little to no familiar faces as many of my friends had moved to other schools, and it shocked me to see how big our school is, given I went to a small charter school! I was pretty happy when I started meeting all the people that I had, as I had never made that many friends so quickly. It took a while, but the students I met started cracking my shell, and slowly but surely, I turned from a quiet, reserved kid to the loud, extroverted girl I am now,” Jr. Stephanie Blanco said.
