“What motivates me to get up in the morning is my parents. They have always supported me through anything I do. They always are fully invested in me and my dreams. I want to make the most out of the opportunities that they have given me to show them that I am appreciative of what they do. Hopefully, in the future, I can repay them for everything they have done for me. I am an athlete that wants to play at the Division I level. To reach those goals requires lots of training. For me, basketball is my number one sport. For basketball training, I train with Jordan Myrick. I train with him 2-3 times a week. My parents pay for every training session and take time out of their day to take me to every session. My mom is a teacher and pay isn’t high. My dad works at a factory, making parts for many different machines and vehicles. He also has to leave his work early to come get me from school or take me to practice. Because of this, he has to find time to make those hours up. His job is not high paying either, so it shows me that he really cares since he leaves work early for me. When they pay for me to do what I love, I know that I have to give it my all and to never take it for granted because it could be gone by the snap of a finger. So overall, I wake up and know that I have to do something each day to get one percent better to increase the chances of helping better my parents’ lives in the future because they have worked beyond hard, to give me the best life I could ever imagine. I hope to succeed in sports to show that all the time and money they have put into me didn’t go to waste. That is what motivates me to wake up in the morning.”
