“I auditioned for a show at West Ottawa a couple years ago called Disaster. I had been in the last two shows the last school year and had kinda expected that I was going to get into the musical as well. But when the cast list came out and I didn’t see my name, I was confused and upset because to me it didn’t make sense. When I talked about my audition with someone, I was told I didn’t “try hard enough” and didn’t give them what they needed, which I took to heart and it kinda ruined my motivation to want to continue with theatre, but over that next year I pushed myself to work harder to be able to show them that they do want me in their shows,” Sr. Alex Velazques said.
