”I started running when I was like, I think three and half years old and I did it because I was jealous that my sister was running with my mom and I couldn’t do it with them. In 6th grade, I dislocated my knee doing a hurdle and I was out like for five or six months and it kinda kept happening during the year, so I had to have surgery in 8th grade on both my knees and I was in a wheelchair for about a month and on crutches for like another month or couple of weeks and I was out of sport for like nine months. I lost all my muscle and I had to start from scratch. Then I had a second surgery about a month after I had fully recovered, and this one was less intense. I still had to restart a little bit. Or like I still had to do a lot of physical therapy to get better and build my muscle, but it didn’t take as long to recover, like two months. I decided to go back to running, because even though I still had a lot of issues and trauma with my knees, but I just really loved the sport and just didn’t want to give up or quit. I kind of want to do it anyways even if I wasn’t as strong as I used to be, and just wanted to do it anyways, what I really love to do,” Soph. Liliya Pyk said.
