What can be some of the biggest struggles and worries people have to deal with when they are students? Of course, there’s school for several hours a day, and the homework that comes from almost every class can’t be forgotten, along with tests, quizzes, and various other tasks that students have to do. However, one aspect that can often be overlooked regarding students’ many worries would be jobs!
What can make a job stressful? Many factors can make a place bad to work at or stress someone out at their job like a bad boss, excessive work, or a bad workplace environment. Thankfully, that’s not what the following article is about. The following article is not on the worst places to work but rather on the best places to work, as recommended by West Ottawa students.
Jean Marie’s
Jean Marie’s is a clothing store chain with a location in Holland at 486 Chicago Drive. The clothing store was highly recommended as a good place to work by Jr. Leah DeSanctis. DeSanctis works at Jean Marie’s and enjoys working there quite a bit, despite only having worked there for two weeks. She chose to work there because, in her own words, “ I’ve shopped at the store for a long time and I know some of the workers and they’re really nice there.”
She says that the aspects she enjoys about working there would be, “probably just the environment and they’re pretty flexible with my hours as well. I also love the generous staff discount.” So with a staff discount, flexible hours, and a good workplace environment, Jean Marie’s has been rated as an overall good place to work.
Quality Car Wash
Quality Car Wash is a car washing company with five locations in Holland. Viktor Peacock recommended the Quality Car Wash chain as a good place to work.
Peacock enjoys working there for quite a few reasons. “I love the environment, like everybody’s so kind to each other, and like just everybody loves to put each other up. My team leaders are all super, like everything is very organized. I get paid well. Just overall, everything has a benefit to it, there’s not a lot of downsides to working there.”
He would recommend working there to others because, in his own words, “It’s a fantastic place to work. You’re gonna meet a lot of friends, you’re gonna learn great work ethic, and then you’re also gonna get very rewarding benefits.” Overall, he believes that Quality Car Wash is a really good place to work because of a good work environment, supportive team members and coworkers, good team leaders, and good pay.
Apothecary Gift Shop
The Apothecary Gift Shop is a gift shop located in downtown Holland, MI, at 35 W. 8th St.Holland, MI 49423. Brianna Munoz recommended the Apothecary Gift Shop as a good place to work.
Munoz works at the gift shop and enjoys working there for quite a few reasons. Munoz said, “I really like my coworkers, everyone is super nice, and I also like the employee discount that we get.” She enjoys the healthy work environment, kind coworkers, and a nice employee discount.
According to her, “I started working there because I always liked going to the store when I was younger, and I saw that they were hiring on their Instagram, so I applied.” She would recommend working there to others for a nice discount, kind coworkers, and a healthy work environment. Overall, the Apothecary Gift Shop is a good workplace because of the healthy work environment, kind coworkers, and a good employee discount.
These are just some places that have been highly rated and recommended as great places to work by fellow West Ottawa students. All of these locations have some sort of benefit to working at them and have very few downsides, but these are not all places currently hiring. If there are better fits than these, then one should research where the best place to work for oneself is. Ultimately, one should choose where to work based on one’s preferences for hours, benefits, and work environments.
