“Our band, Little House on the Lake started in March of 2024. Caleb Montgomery and I were attending WOSTOCK. One of us asked, ‘What if we started a band?’ It was a simple question that could have easily been passed off with an ‘It’s a lot of work’ or ‘We can’t play instruments.’ Both of these are true but we decided to go for it anyway. Caleb already knew how to play the guitar, which made everything possible. We found a natural-born drummer, Dylan Vruggink. I picked up the bass guitar. London Bateman, who has been practicing music his whole life, found his spot on the keyboard. Our glue guy is Ryan Montgomery on the tambourine. Lastly, Connor Knapp is our frontman and lead singer. All six of us are West Ottawa baseball players, so we decided to play live music for everyone at the fall New Holland Brewery baseball fundraiser on October 29. The fundraiser was a major success and we had a ton of fun. Our serious goal is to play at WOSTOCK this upcoming year. We have noticed a decline in attendance and popularity in the last few years. We thought that having a student band would increase attendance and, in a sense, bring WOSTOCK back. Our Instagram is @littlehouseonthelake24 if you want to keep up with our band, Little House on the Lake,” Sr. Quinn VanderKamp said.
