Come out, come out wherever you are! Get out of the house with your friends and family and peak at the swirling sky tonight.
The Space Weather Prediction Center continues to say there is a high chance to see the lights tonight and even further into the weekend. There’s a big likelihood to see the lights even clearer than earlier this summer.
The Geophysical Institute based at the University of Alaska Fairbanks predicts the lights will be visible on the horizon as far south as Northern Florida, with visibility directly overhead in Holland.
Jr. Joel Cosgrove enjoyed the lights on May 12th.
“I went outside at 1:30 a.m. I called my brother. He was already in bed; I got him to come outside with me and there was a faint streak of green glow across the sky. I didn’t think a ton of it until I pulled out my phone to take a picture. The picture turned out to be a vibrant purple and green image of the night sky. It was very cool to see how the camera captured the image compared to how it looked in real life. Overall it was a very fun and cool experience to share with my brother,” Cosgrove said.
Tonight, the lights might be visible with the naked eye, but using a camera might be necessary to get a clear view.
Kallyn Gaul a Junior at West Ottawa High School saw the northern lights in Canada. “They were pretty, I was in Canada and I was on a dock and we were in the middle of nowhere on this lake and the lights popped out. They were really pretty and I was just with my family. It made my heart feel warm.”
Be encouraged to look into the clear dark sky! Enjoy time relaxing and find these lights tonight.
