“If it hadn’t been for Rugby I’d probably be over 300 pounds by now, before sports I was very closed off, I have come out of my shell and have become a better version of myself. I’ve had so many more opportunities to meet more people and make new friends. I’ve had a couple offers from colleges to go play there because of rugby, I don’t have to worry about the cost of college as much. I’ve found myself having to be a leader in the field which has transferred into my social life, which makes my problem-solving skills better. Before sports, I used to act without thinking but sports showed me discipline. I’ve been punched a couple times in games and I didn’t let my emotions get the best of me. If I were to get punched before my sophomore year I would probably fight back and say something about his grandma. Though sports do take up a lot of my time, it’s helped me learn to manage my scheduling and this will help me a lot in the future. Overall rugby has changed my life and I’m eternally grateful for it,” Sr. Giovanni Loyola said.
